You may have noticed that UK Football Schools now offer a student guardianship service. So, what is this? Does it impact you? What are UK Guardians?
If you are an overseas student, in the UK and are boarding, you will usually be required to have somebody over 25 years of age, who is willing to be listed as your student guardian in the UK. If you don’t have anybody in the UK, parents typically find a Guardianship service in the UK that will do this for you. Things they offer are things such as;
- A 24 hour a day, 7 day a week full support service.
- Regular contact with students, parents, schools and agents.
- Acting on behalf of parents with issues in the school (eg. injuries/ behaviour matters etc).
- Caring for the welfare of students.
- Academic mentoring and management (eg. attending parent evenings)
- Providing somewhere for students to live if needs be during out of term times
Typically, student guardianship companies can charge anywhere from around £1,500 per year all the up to £10,000!
As we began receiving a lot of queries from students/ footballers who were looking for the best football schools, not only needing student guardianship, but looking for football advice, opportunities, football trials, where to look for immigration and visa help etc, we devised a few different packages to cover this for them. We have basically combined guardianship for students in the UK with football support.
With regards to football support, given our experience, contacts, sister company (UK Football Trials), success in placing players into academy’s and pro clubs, we feel we are in a strong position to really help and propel young footballer’s progression in the game. We are able to speak to schools, ask for regular feedback, honest feedback which may not be told to you, question things such as playing out of position. We are able to come and watch your games, bring pro club scouts to your games, offer you free trials to really put you in the shop window. These packages ensure that if you are good enough, you will not be missed.
Last year, we supported 30 players who were schooling here in football schools. We continued to go to watch them train and feedback, watch fixtures, speak with parents on a weekly basis, arranged trials, arrange scouts to watch them, and assisted six boys into professional football club trials, a couple with Premier League football clubs!
