We are pleased to announce that new consultant, Ben Kaunhoven has recently joined the UK Football Schools team. From a young age Ben has been passionate about football, growing up in the northern city of Leeds, he spent his childhood watching the team that boasted players such as Rio Ferdinand, Mark Viduka, Alan Smith and Harry Kewell. Ben then moved to Chesterfield where he began to support his local team. He had a season ticket for twelve years, seeing Chesterfield visit Wembley twice, winning League Two on two separate occasions and a League One playoff semi-final.
Ben worked as a goalkeeper coach in the Chesterfield Football Club Community team between 2010 and 2013 training the young goalkeepers. Whilst at Chesterfield FC he was part of the team that created Walking Football, which was seen on Sky Sports News.
Ben used to play football every week both as part of a good football school side and at weekends for his local club where he reached the Derbyshire County Cup Final. He played in the FA Youth Cup on couple of occasions and attended the same school as England world cup hero Harry Maguire and played several times with him whilst developing his football and education in the UK.
Ben then began University where he graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Business Studies from Leeds Beckett where he represented the University football team. On the back of graduating Ben spent time learning the business side of football, learning about pathways, talent identification, coaching and football boarding schools in Europe, before joining UK Football Schools. In his spare time, Ben works as a scout for a well-established Championship club’s youth academy.
Ben is looking forward to helping young footballers find the very best football boarding schools in England and Wales and advise families on pathways into professional football academies and soccer boarding schools in the UK.
