Zane grew up in the US and from the age of 9 Zane was playing for a US Soccer Federation academy club, until he left for the UK at the age of 12. He was due to enrol in a private boarding school on the South Coast of England that his parents had researched and decided on for themselves. This was until Zane’s parents came across the UK Football Schools website. They then reached out to us for help and guidance in choosing the right school for Zane. The family was looking for a specialist football school, which would enable him to continue to improve his considerable footballing skills and ability.
Along with an excellent football academy programme, the family were looking for a balance of football and academic excellence, as well as exposure to top football clubs within the UK. The decision about which school to choose was vitally important, as Zane had never lived away from home before. This is where UK Football Schools stepped in, and after discussions with the family, we decided on a select few tailor-made options of schools for Zane and his family to choose from.
Since allowing us to help and guide his family with making the right choice of school for Zane, he has gone from strength to strength. Since enrolling in the UK private boarding school that we recommended, Zane has enjoyed fantastic playing facilities, and received outstanding coaching from highly qualified coaches. This has really helped him to improve his football, and as a bonus he has sometimes trained with the U16’s elite squad to push him even further.
Within a few months of being in his new school, Zane has been rewarded for his hard work, skills and commitment with a 10-week trial at English Premier League club Leicester City. This was an amazing experience for Zane, and allowed him to play against some of the best academy players in the UK. Running concurrently to this trial, Zane was also offered a trial with English Championship club Nottingham Forest and EFL League One Lincoln City Football Club. Zane has had the wonderful opportunity of playing in academy games against premier league title winners Liverpool and Manchester City, Champions League winners Chelsea, and other top premier league and Championship clubs academies in England. At the completion of his last set of trials, Zane received offers from multiple clubs, but chose to sign with EFL League One Lincoln City FC. Zane’s coaches at his UK private boarding school in collaboration with the coaching staff at Lincoln City, believe Lincoln City is the right choice for Zane at this stage in his development. Both sets of coaches can now co-ordinate their input to maximize Zane’s development.
